The large Birch tree which has adorned pictures of our school for many years was cut down today.  Unfortunately, it was determined that the tree was dying and it had a large crack in its trunk which made it probable that it would come down in a storm.  In order to ensure that it came down safely without doing any damage, the tree was removed today.  There are a number of children who are very sad that we lost our tree.  We will look at planting another in its place in the springtime.
